With more than 100 film and television credits, three time Emmy nominated actor Barry Corbin is one of the most respected actors in Hollywood.  Equally at home in a Shakespearean doublet or a cowboy hat, native Texan Barry Corbin is described as the kind of actor who makes an impression on audiences no matter how large or small the role.

He may be best-known for his role as the crusty ex-astronaut Maurice Minnifield on the CBS series 'Northern Exposure'.  He is also well remembered as General Beringer in 'WarGames', John Travolta's uncle in 'Urban Cowboy', co-starring with Clint Eastwood in 'Any Which Way You Can', and Roscoe Brown in the acclaimed western 'Lonesome Dove'.  Recently, Barry had a memorable role in 2008's Oscar-winning film 'No Country for Old Men'.

In real life Barry is a horseman and a cattleman, complete with a ranch in the Fort Worth, Texas area.  Corbin was born in Lamesa, south of Lubbock in west Texas and studied theatre arts at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Following a stint in the Marines, Barry was taking the stage on broadway and around the country throughout the 1960's.  He moved to Los Angeles in the late 1970's to write plays for National Public Radio, but his movie career took off following his memorable portrayal of Uncle Bob in 'Urban Cowboy'.

From 1979 until 1984 he appeared in several episodes of 'Dallas' as Sheriff Fenton Washburn. From 1990 to 1995, Corbin portrayed former astronaut Maurice Minnifield on CBS's 'Northern Exposure', for which he received two Emmy nominations.

In 1994, Corbin narrated the acclaimed TBS documentary 'MoonShot', telling the story of the 1960s space race from the first-person viewpoint of Mercury Seven astronaut Deke Slayton.  From 2003-2008, Corbin was a cast member of the teenage drama series' One Tree Hill', where he portrayed a basketball coach for the Tree Hill Ravens.  Currently he is guest starring in four episodes of the TNT series "The Closer"

In 2009, Corbin was inducted in the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame in Fort Worth.
